April 4-6, 2008 - Texas Dressage Classic in Tyler, TX.  Mary, Sheila W., Heather (accompanied by by the dog Sheila of course) took Muriel and Dee down south for the first show of the season.  Turns out the 9 hour drive was well worth it!  The facility was beautiful and the competitors were very friendly.  After driving all day on Wednesday, the horses were schooled lightly on Thursday and rested after their trailer ride.  Friday was rainy (which proved quite a challenge when trying to clean the red footing off the horses and tack!) but Dee's 2nd level debut was a sucess and was especially excited about the '9' on a walk pirouette!  Muriel debuted her I-1 Freestyle (National Treasure soundtrack) choreographed by Heather and Mary and music edited by Owen and Mary.  Saturday was beautiful and proved to be very exciting with the big freestyle jackpot classes that evening!  Mary and Muriel ended up 4th out of a very competive class in the FEI division.  They were the only pair to recieve a standing ovation from the large crowd and many people came up to inquire about Muriel and congratulate Mary on the absolute correctness of her training.  They were especially surprised to hear that the MFD team created the freestyle on their own!  Sunday was a long day but the horses were true to form and Dee was a superstar earning a 72.9% in his 1-4 class with not one but TWO perfect scores of 10 for both halts!!!  Heather ended up 'working' as the medic did not show up on Sunday so she stepped up and helped keep the show going.  After another long trailer ride the horses were very happy to see their stalls (and dinner!) at Trinity.
